Heavy Hearts

Today has been heartbreaking.

Filled with tragic news from friends.
It seems like everything happens all at once.

I am at a loss for words to try and comfort loved ones.
I'm having a hard time understanding Gods will...
but I guess it isn't really for me to understand.

John 14:27
Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.
Philippians 4:7
And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
John 16:33
"I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world."
Psalm 29:11
The LORD gives strength to his people; the LORD blesses his people with peace.
Matthew 11:28
Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.

Praying for all those whose hearts are hurting today.

SUYL Baby Showers

Linking up with Kelly for Show Us Your Life

This summer I helped throw TWO baby showers!
Both of my sisters(in-law) Raychal and Andrea were pregnant, and both were waiting to find out the gender!
The were due August 2nd (baby girl August 7th) and October 1st.

Aren't they the cutest little preggos ever?!

We had a surprise sprinkle for my sister Raychal who was having her third!
It was just a few close friends and family. We had chicken and rice, green bean casserole, cherry delight, and some muffins for lunch.

We had some amazing desserts like cupcakes, chocolate covered strawberries, chocolate covered Oreos, and homemade snickerdoodles!

A month later we had a shower to celebrate with my sister Andrea. Each seat at the table had a packet of seeds as a favor. We had a table set up by the door with different shapes and different color scrapbook paper for everyone to write prayers, thoughts, and blessings for the new family.

The cake was so good!

Andrea's cousin is pregnant too so we had three cute preggos there that day!!

My step-sister Staci handed out patches of fabric to everyone to write a message to the new baby on and she is going to make my sister a quilt that she can give to her baby. She also made one for Ellie and it is the most adorable thing ever. It was so fun to read all the squares when she was finished, I know Ellie will always cherish it and remember how much she is loved and how much we all loved her ever before she was here!

What Is This World Coming To?

It's been an odd week.
I don't even want to go there.

Instead I will go here...

I went to the mall last night to see The Help with my mom (super good btw) and THIS was one of the advertisements scrolling through the stands that are all along the mall. Are you kidding me? This is sitting out there right in the walkway where everyone can see it? Where little girls can see what they're "supposed" to look like? Telling them that they need to boost their bra size? Where little boys can stare at it and go home and think about the picture they saw. Where my husband will walk past this girl standing in her underwear showing off her assets? And American Eagle is supposed to be considered a youth store, I remember shopping there when I was in middle school. It's hard enough to be a teenager without someone telling you that you aren't pretty enough, skinny enough, you don't have big enough boobs, you need to dress more provocatively...etc.
I don't understand how this is in a "family friendly" place. I shouldn't have to be worried about going shopping and having to wonder what thoughts are running through my husbands head. I know that men are visual, so why tempt them more? Obviously sex sells, we see it everywhere. On TV, in the movies, in our books, our magazines, and even in our schools. This is clear evidence of the Devil at work in the world. Maybe I am just super sensitive to the way that girls are dressing, and the awful commercials that are on TV but this is something that really gets me going.
I can't believe the way that some girls are allowed to dress. Not only are you selling yourself, but you are causing every other guy to look at you; in a way that is only intended for your husband. And you are potentially causing MY husband to look. I know that it is up to every individual to control their eyes, but when you are walking around half naked what can you expect? I know that I can see you, so I can only imagine the internal struggle that you are causing in men who are trying to be faithful and keep their eyes only for their wife. Or putting images and ideas in a young mans head.
Don't get me wrong, I am guilty of the same thing. When I was younger I may have worn things that were a little too tight, a little too short, a little too low...because this is how you get boys to like you, and believe me it got me all sorts of the wrong attention. But this is the way the world tells us to be.

I am really confused as to how this sells any article of clothing...
Is this the way we want to raise our daughters? Is this what we want them to aspire to?
I read this post the other day that really got me thinking. But along with wanting our children to be confident and healthy, we need to teach our daughters about the struggles men deal with and how they can be stylish...and modest, and we need to teach our girls to have some self respect. Hand in hand we need to teach our boys how to be respectful and that they need to guard their eyes and their hearts.

1 Corinthians 8:13 says "So if what I eat causes another believer to sin, I will never eat meat again as long as I live--for I don't want to cause another believer to stumble."
I believe that "meat" in this verse can be substituted with what I wear, what I do, what I watch,
how I act, etc.
Do you want to be the cause of another person stumbling?

Crusin'

Tonight we stayed out past bedtime and went to a little car show and met up with my mom and some friends at Red Devil-a local pizza place. They have such amazing food. We started E on some finger foods..you know...avocado, some noodles....
An entire roll
Apparently this girl loves her some solids!

This week is the Woodward Dream Cruise so everything is all about cars in my house. I will be a single mom all weekend while the hubs is out cruising with the rest of the world. Too much traffic for me!

I think E might be down for a little cruising!

We drive with our hands and feet on the wheel!

8 Months

8*15*11
*Ellie-Bellie*
Here we are at 8 months already. I can't believe how big you're getting. This time last year we were just finding out that you were a little girl-and now here you are turning our world upside down!!

This Month
*You weigh 17lbs
*You eat 4 bottles a day and we try to get you to eat solids 3 times a day
*You are in a size 2 disposable diaper be we are still going strong on cloth
*You are still able to wear some 3 month onesies and pants, but are typically in size 3-6 month clothes
*You sleep from around 7:30pm to 6:30am when you have a bottle and go back to sleep until 8:00 or so
*You take two naps a day around 10:00 and 3:00 and sleep for 1.5-2 hours

In July we went on vacation to Gull Lake and we had such a great time! It was a big week for you!

You played at the Splash Pad, you mastered the art of feeding yourself puffs, you played with your cousins, spent time with your Aunts and Uncles, and even stayed in the nursery at least once a day! You did so great! You loved all the attention and being around other people. When we got home you were bored since it was just me and you!

You have two adorable little teeth, and have just recently discovered that you can stick out your tongue. You like to curl it and make raspberries-which is making eating solids very difficult.
You pull yourself up on everything like a champ and are trying to figure out how to bend over without falling down. You walk around the coffee table and the couch and can move back and forth between the two. I think you will start trying to stand on your own this month!

You are learning to use your sippy and love to feed yourself. I think we are going to have to start giving you more finger foods this month because you are losing interest in the purees.
You love to play and your new favorite toy is definitely your sock. You will pass it back and forth between your hands and then shove it all in your mouth! You like to stand next to, not in, your jumper and you like to play with your walker.

You are such a sweet girl. We are really beginning to see your personality show this month. You don't feel pressured to do anything you don't want to do. You are very observant. You like to take in your surroundings and take a little bit to warm up to other people.
We love you so much Ellebelle.

BETH MOORE!!!

Yesterday we drove 4+ hours home from the Living Proof Live conference in Columbus, OH.
If it hadn't been for SueSue (our TomTom was a girl) then we would have been home in 4 hours or less. I hate SueSue. The whole trip she sent us in loops and circles trying to get us lost. No matter what address we plugged in to get directions to she kept trying to send us "home". When we finally got into town we were directly in front of the hotel and she kept telling us to turn right-away from the hotel. I don't know what her problem was! Now I understand how annoying frustrating it is for men when women are constantly telling them where to turn :) Next time were leaving SueSue in the glove box!

We had such a great time at the conference.
The worship was amazing!

"PREPARE"
Ephesians 2:10
For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works,
which God prepared in advance for us to do.
1 Corinthians 2:9
But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man,
the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.
Ezra 7:10
For Ezra had prepared his heart to seek the law of the LORD, and to do it, and to teach in Israel statutes and judgments.
SEEK IT. DO IT. TEACH IT.
It was such an amazing message. I had reservations about going to the conference but I know that I went for a purpose.
Beth Moore is so sweet. She has such a heart for Scripture, and such a gift of teaching. If she ever comes anywhere close to where you live GO you will be fed.

And of course we made to hit up the Cheesecake Factory on the way home.
That was non-negotiable!

Heaven!

The best part of the day was getting home and seeing my sweet girl. I missed her so much!
